I am so excited to share a peek into a Mommy & Me session I had the honor of capturing Alicia and her sweet baby girl, Sofia. There is something so special about capturing the bond between a mother and child is one of my absolute favorite things—it’s raw, selfless, and so pure. Little Sofia is at that adorable, curious 9-month-old stage where she’s always on the move and eager to explore the world around her!

A Family Connection Like No Other

This session was extra special because Alicia is my little cousin, and seeing her as a momma is beyond heartwarming. Seeing Alicia as a mom, completely in love with every little thing Sofia does, was such a joy. The way she looks at her daughter is pure happiness, and it was an honor to document such a deep and unconditional love between mother and daughter.

A Cozy and Beautiful Photography Studio in Springfield

For this session, we traveled to Studio Share 417 in Springfield—a bit of a drive, but for these moments, so worth it! The studio offered some beautiful natural light and several versatile setups that were perfect for a cozy, intimate Mommy & Me session. The cozy, inviting space made it the perfect location for capturing those beautiful, fleeting moments between a mother and child.

A Sentimental Touch: Sofia’s Outfit

One of the sweetest details of this session was Sofia’s delicate white lace dress and pearl headband. It was angelic, for sure, but it also held a lot of meaning. The outfit was a special nod to our grandmother, who Sofia is named after. Both Alicia and I felt a bit of grandma’s love as we looked at Sofia, which made the session feel even more meaningful.

These small, sentimental details can make family photos even more meaningful and personal. It was such a beautiful way to connect and celebrate the life of our grandma.

Capturing Sofia’s Bright Personality

At first, Sofia was a bit shy, but as soon as we put her in a matching outfit with Alicia, she totally opened up. She snuggled into her mama’s arms and started giggling—it was the cutest thing! By the end of the session, Sofia was rubbing her eyes, clearly ready for a nap, but still pushing through with some adorable smiles. I can’t stress enough how much I love capturing these in-between moments—the snuggles, the tired little grins, the genuine emotions that make family photos so special.

9 Months: A Moment That Flies By Too Quickly

Nine months is such a sweet age. Sofia was wide-eyed, curious, and wanting to explore, but also perfectly content in her mama’s arms. It’s a beautiful time, and it goes by faster than you can blink. These are the moments I love preserving through photography—the ones you’ll look back on and say, “I remember exactly how she looked at that age.”
