Welcome to the blog, where I share tips, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and beautiful stories from working with families to create lasting heirlooms.

This First 48 newborn hospital session in Nevada, Missouri was such a beautiful start to baby Clyde’s story. After a long labor, Amy and Wil met their baby boy and gave him the sweetest old-fashioned name. I had the honor of capturing some of their very first hours as a family of three. Filled with quiet snuggles, hospital blanket swaddles, and all the little features that are easy to forget without photos. If you’re considering a First 48 session or hospital newborn photography, this gallery is a wonderful example of how meaningful those early moments can be.

Waiting for Baby Clyde

First Moments in the Hospital Room

When I stepped into the hospital room, the first thing I noticed was Clyde’s tiny handprint on the side of the empty baby cot. It was such a sweet detail to walk in on! Wil was holding Clyde, who was wrapped snugly in that familiar white blanket with the thin blue and pink stripes.

A Family of Three at Last

Before I began photographing, we chatted a bit about the birth and how their first night had gone. They said labor had been long and hard, but the moment they laid eyes on Clyde, it was all worth it. Their first night as a family of three went pretty smoothly, they were even able to catch a few hours of sleep between feedings.

The Sweetest Details

We gently placed Clyde into the hospital cot to capture some details next to his little handprint. He stayed sleeping peacefully for a while, and I focused on the tiny features you could see peeking out of the swaddle, like his soft cheeks, fuzzy hair, and tiny mouth.

Tiny Features You Never Want to Forget

Once we unwrapped him, we found him dressed in the classic long-sleeved hospital shirt. I photographed his tight little fists, freshly cut umbilical cord, and long little feet, the details that will change so quickly in the days ahead.

More of Clyde’s Story to Come

After a quiet, cozy session, I packed up and said my goodbyes, though it won’t be for long! I’ll be seeing them again soon for an in-home newborn session, and I already can’t wait to document more of Clyde’s story!
